Advanced Manufacturing
Civan Lasers (Jerusalem) and AMET Inc. (Idaho) received a BIRD grant for their collaborative project aimed at transforming the thick-metal welding industry. The project focuses on improving welding quality, speed, and flexibility by integrating Civan’s innovative Dynamic Beam Laser technology with AMET’s expertise.
The partnership has resulted in the development of the Advanced Laser Welding System, which removes the need for beveling, minimizes heat-affected zones, and significantly boosts welding speeds for metal parts ranging from 15 to 50 millimeters thick. These advancements are crucial for meeting the demands of modern manufacturing across various industries, including power generation (fusion reactors), renewable energy (wind towers), and maritime (shipbuilding).
