Nortec (Israel) teamed up with the Gas Technology Institute (Des Plaines, IL) to develop an innovative method to capture tracking and traceability data for underground natural gas plastic pipe installations.
The technology, supported by the BIRD Foundation, automates the process of capturing fusion and joint information which is increasingly important for risk management and regulatory compliance.
This successful project has spun-off two new companies, NortecView and LocusView, that later merged into one company, LocusView, which has created new jobs and a solution that is required by utilities.
In November 17, 2025, Locusview has been acquired by the U.S. company Itron for $525 million in cash. This marks one of the largest Israeli software exits in the infrastructure and energy sectors and highlights what is possible when U.S. and Israeli companies engage in collaborative partnerships.
