BIRD Energy to invest $9.75 Million in Cooperative Israel-U.S. Clean Energy Projects

The total investment in the awarded projects will amount to $27 million including private sector contribution

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoE), and the Israel Innovation Authority held an Executive Committee meeting on November 21, 2023, resulting in the selection of nine clean energy projects that were approved to receive $9.75 million under the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Energy program. The selected projects address topics including agrivoltaics, battery technology, CO2 reduction, energy efficiency, solar energy, and energy storage.

BIRD Energy to invest $5.48 Million in Cooperative Israel-U.S. Clean Energy Projects

The total investment in the approved projects summed $12.7 million including private sector contribution

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE),Israel’s Ministry of Energy (MoE), and the Israel Innovation Authority held a virtual board meeting on November 3, 2021, resulting in the selection of six clean energy projects that were approved, to receive $5.48 million, under the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Energy program.

DOE and Israeli Partners Invest $5.48 Million in Cooperative Clean Energy Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Israel’s Ministry of Energy (MoE) along with the Israel Innovation Authority today announced the six clean energy projects selected to receive $5.48 million in government funding through the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Energy program.

The projects, conducted by a U.S. and an Israeli partner, will accelerate technology innovation on advanced vehicle technologies, batteries, energy efficiency measures, energy storage and the water-energy nexus.

The total value of the approved projects is $17.4 million in the areas of Batteries, Electric Aircraft, Fuel Cells, Electric Vehicles, Natural Gas, Wind Energy and Energy Efficiency

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Israel’s Ministry of Energy (MoE) along with the Israel Innovation Authority have selected eight clean energy projects to receive $7.15 million under the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Energy program. The total value of the projects is $17.4 million, which includes $10.25 million in cost share from the companies selected for funding.

New Call for Proposals issued by BIRD Energy, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Israel Ministry of Energy jointly with the Israel Innovation Authority

BIRD Energy announced its next funding cycle for U.S.-Israel joint project proposals with a focus on Renewable Energy and Efficiency and Natural Gas Technologies

To be considered, a project proposal must include R&D cooperation between two companies or cooperation between a company and a university/research institution (one from the U.S. and one from Israel). The proposal should have significant commercial potential and the project outcome should lead to commercialization.

Opportunities for Funding U.S.-Israel Cooperation for Renewable Energy and Efficiency

The application process is web-based and requires prior discussion with the BIRD Foundation. The deadline for Executive Summaries is July 9, 2018, and full proposals are due by August 21, 2018.

The total value of the approved projects is $11.3 million in the areas of solar energy, energy efficiency/ smart grid, and wind energy

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Israel’s Ministry of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources (MIEW) have selected six projects to receive $5.1 million under the 2015 Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Energy program. Each project is conducted by a  U.S. and an Israeli partner. Selected projects address energy challenges and opportunities of interest to both countries, while focusing on commercializing clean energy technologies that improve economic competitiveness, create jobs, and support innovative companies. The selected projects will leverage private sector cost-share for a total project value of $11.3 million. This is the seventh round of funding for BIRD Energy which has approved 28 projects with a total investment of about $22 million (including the projects in the current annual cycle).

BIRD Foundation Announces $4.2 Million Investments in Cooperative Clean Energy Projects

Awards were approved for joint development projects between the United States and Israel in the areas of biofuels, wind energy, solar energy and energy efficiency.

The BIRD Foundation will invest $4.2M in five clean energy cooperative projects, between U.S. and Israeli companies, under its “BIRD Energy” program. “BIRD Energy” was established following an agreement between the U.S. Department of Energy/EERE and the Israeli Ministry of National Infrastructures (MNI) to promote U.S.-Israel cooperation in clean/renewable energy technologies.

DOE and Israel Announce $3.3 Million in Cooperative Clean Energy Projects

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced a milestone in U.S.-Israel cooperation on clean energy technology. With financial support of DOE and the Israeli Ministry of National Infrastructures, the bilateral BIRD Foundation Energy Executive Committee has competitively selected four cooperative clean energy projects in the United States and Israel. This initiative will award up to $3.3 million in U.S.-Israel funding for these four projects.
