BIRD – Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial R&D Foundation to invest $2 million in new projects to foster advanced technologies for First Responders

The program was established by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Israeli Ministry of Public Security (MOPS) to promote and fund jointly developed technologies for First Responders

During its meeting on June 12, 2018 held in Washington, D.C., the Board of Governors of the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation awarded funding to two homeland security projects, selected by U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Israeli Ministry of Public Security (MOPS), between U.S. and Israeli companies to advance technologies for first responders. In addition to the grants from BIRD, the projects will access private sector funding, boosting the total value of the two projects to approximately $4.5 million.

The approved projects involve innovations in the areas of advanced manufacturing, construction tech, food technology, healthcare IT, homeland security, electronics and others

During its meeting on June 12, 2018, held in Washington, DC, the Board of Governors of the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation approved $6.3 million in funding for seven new projects between U.S. and Israeli companies. In addition to the grants from BIRD, the projects will access private sector funding, boosting the total value of all projects to approximately $15 million.

New Call for Proposals issued by BIRD Energy, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Israel Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources jointly with the Israel Innovation Authority

The application process is web-based and requires prior discussion with the BIRD Foundation.
The deadline for Executive Summaries is July 9, 2018, and full proposals are due by August 21, 2018.

The approved projects involve innovations in the areas of agrotechnology, communications, medical devices, digital health, environment, homeland security and others

During its meeting last month, held in Tel Aviv, Israel, the Board of Governors of the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation approved $7.75 million in funding for nine new projects between U.S. and Israeli companies. In addition to the grants from BIRD, the projects will access private sector funding, boosting the total value of all projects to approximately $19.3 million.
